As a Technical Inside Sales Representative with Kohler Engines, this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. This position is referenced internally as Associate Sales Executive. The Technical Inside Sales Representative is responsible for providing a gracious experience for existing customers and targeted new customers. The Technical Inside Sales Representative builds relationships and regularly works with distributor and OEM customers. This position effectively communicates pertinent sales information throughout the Kohler Engines division. The position will also represent Kohler Engines interest to ensure customer contracts are honored and objectives are realized. The Technical Inside Sales Representative works closely with all Kohler Engines cross functional teams driving desired results for the organization. The Technical Inside Sales Representative will develop a strong skill set in sales and product knowledge allowing the individual to be considered for Outside Sales opportunities. This position serves as part of the Kohler Engines Sales farm system and a training ground with the ability to advance up the sales career track.

Develop and build trusting relationships with all Sales Executives, Area Managers, key functional colleagues in Kohler Engines, and key customer contacts.
Work closely with all sales support functions in Kohler Engines including Operations, Engineering, Quality, Marketing, Accounting and Customer Service to ensure proper alignment of resources and gaining consensus while driving efficiency and success.
Support Outside Sales, Distributors, OEM customers, and the International Sales team by seeking out and providing in a timely fashion all necessary information, i.e., product availability, features, standard pricing, part searches, replacement engines, drawing requests, expedited events, etc. The Associate Sales Executive will own the activity from start to finish resulting in no required follow-up from other parties.
Work with customers to determine what engine specification they need; then drive spec changes through the Product LifeCycle Management (PLM) system. Expedite the change request from start to finish with clear communication to customers and the International team if called upon. Manage the dashboard for customer-requested specs/revisions for the business.
Maintain a list of open quotes, expediting to meet the customer's timeframe, and drive to completion. Measure quote success via a quote tracking system. Learn the quote entry system to ensure Inside Sales is assisting in the most effective manner.
Drive all sample engine and emergency part delivery requests. Determine, with customer and sales input if the customer pays for the sample or not. Determine appropriate sample shipping method. Maintain a sample engine portfolio for tracking, follow-up, and communicating to our customer base.
Maintain CRM customer database and Kohler Net sales function for Engines and all related activities with the CRM customer database.
Manage and handle all internet, electronic, and phone inquiries for Engines Sales group.
Communicate general production quality issues, corrective actions, and delays to the Sales team, Distributor and OEM customers as they develop. Handle field complaint responses as needed.
Assist with creating sales presentations for customer meetings. Maintain shared files with user-friendly system .Determine what presentation content should be based on input from sales and meeting agenda.
Manage the global communication for the Engine Sales team. This may include sales bulletins sent to our global sales team, distributor network, and possibly, select customers.
Act as the Sales liaison for all process improvement initiatives. Performing data analyses, market research, and applying lean principles will be required. Role may be as a champion of the initiative or as an active participant representing the best interests of our customers and global Sales team. Partner with cross functional colleagues per the initiative's requirements.
Manage the prospecting and lead generation process for the Engines Sales team. Maintain the scorecard and facilitate monthly meetings with the Sales team and distributor base via a closed loop system. Update leadership team as required.
Manage smaller accounts with little travel, i.e., KPS, SDMO, Ferris, etc. meeting customer's expectations while meeting the required sales targets. This activity includes frequent communication with key customer contacts, managing the forecast, business activity, and strategic initiatives with the customer. These opportunities serve as an excellent training opportunity for larger account activity.
Fulfill customer, dealer, and distributor promotional merchandise requests assisting Marketing Analyst as required.
Coordinate on site activities for customer visits as required.
Complete and execute special projects per established timelines as directed by the Manager - Sales & Administration, Inside Sales for Kohler Engines. This may include Sales training initiatives.

Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Manager - Sales & Administration, Inside Sales.
Organization Relationships:
Daily contact with Area Managers
Daily contact with Sales Executives
Daily contact with the Customer Service in order to ensure customer obligations are fulfilled
Frequent contact with Engineering, Marketing, and Quality.
Frequent contact with the Diesel team.

External Business Relationships:
Contact with Kohler Engines distributors, dealers, and OEMs.
Bachelor's degree required.
Strong communication skills required.
Individual who wants to progress beyond this level of responsibility within the Engines organization is desirable.
Associate will be able to relocate within a 5 year period, with ability to progress upward through sales job family.

Technical or engineering background preferred.
Experience in sales and/or customer relations preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
