As a Plant Manager with Kohler Engines, this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. The Plant Manager is responsible for all machining and assembly activities at the Kohler, Wisconsin Engine
manufacturing plant. This position will integrate and control the application of human, physical, and financial
resources to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and financial objectives

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Direct and assist subordinates in supervising the activities of the machining and assembly departments in meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Establish specific metrics by department for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assure objectives are communicated to lowest level and results posted.
Monitor and analyze production performance in the areas of safety, quality, cost objectives, major expenditures, and expense budgets. Take action as necessary to assure each objective is met.
Prepare monthly forecasts with emphasis on spending, standard direct labor input and I.M.E. rates.
Ensure that the duties and responsibilities of subordinates are clearly defined and communicated to them. Monitor performance and review results with each subordinate on a regular basis.
Communicate all pertinent company policies on a timely basis and ensure that they are followed.
Direct the formulation of operating objectives that support division and corporate objectives.
Implement process improvement to reduce inventory, drive out waste, improve manufacturing flexibility, improve safety, improve quality, improve delivery, and reduce cost.
Supervises and coordintes the activities of Engine Maintenance Foreman in providing all required maintenance activities in their assigned areas. Continually improve equipment uptime.
Develop subordinates by encouraging activities; which will broaden their experience base. Make recommendations based on results obtained.
Assist the Vice President - Operations in developing long-range plans, based on marketing forecasts and industry trends.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Vice President-Operations
Supervises the Mgr-Production - Assembly, Mgr Production - Machining, Mgr-Quality, Supervisor-Maintenance & Tooling, Materials Manager, and Safety Specialist
Dotted-line supervision for Mgr-Current Product Engineering, Wisconsin
Organization Relationships:
Daily contact with subordinates to review safety status, production status, quality status, and problem areas.
Daily contact with production planning and scheduling.
Frequent contact with other sales, marketing, and financial personnel on manufacturing issues affecting the business.
Frequent contact with Purchasing, Traffic, Industrial Relations, Human Resources and Systems for advice and/or assistance.
Frequent contact with other Engine Division Plants to optimize customer satisfaction, reduce product cost and share best practices.

External Business Relationships:
Frequent contact with U.A.W. representatives
Occassional contact with suppliers, customers, and personnel from other manufacturing plants
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY
Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
5
years of Supervisory experience, two of which should be engine or high volume repetitive manufacturing involving machining and assembly.
